The B.A. (Performing Arts) – Hindustani Music Hons. (BAPFHMH) program in Open & Distance Learning mode gives a vast segment of the public, especially the poor, the chance to pursue a curriculum in Hindustani classical music. The program seeks to provide Classical music instruction to discerning students who are unable to pursue it through the traditional system. This course is intended for serious music students who want to gain theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject. The program’s objectives are to provide learners with learning experiences that help instill deep interests in learning Hindustani Classical music, which is prevalent in the majority of the Indian continent, as well as to develop broad and balanced knowledge and understanding of core components such as musical elements, principles, music history, contributions of various musicologists throughout the ages, music education, and Aesthetics theories related to Hindustani Classical Music.The curriculum will also give students the opportunity to cooperate with their peers and put on a combined stage play, which will be a once-in-a-lifetime event for Performing Arts students.
Objectives: The B.A. (Performing Arts) – Hindustani Music Hons.) is intended to provide in-depth knowledge of the discipline of Hindustani Classical Music while also providing exposure to subjects outside of the discipline.
The curriculum is excellent for ODL since it focuses on the development of skills and competencies in both professional and academic settings, leading to job prospects and overall growth. The general goals of the Honours program are as follows:
1. To introduce learners to major themes and issues in the discipline of Hindustani Classical Music through core & discipline-centric electives, ability / skill enhancement, and general courses.
2. To assist learners in working toward ability and skill enhancement through exposure to appropriate humanities and social sciences courses.
3. Introduce learners to reading and writing abilities at the undergraduate level through assignments and exercises.
4. Show learners the value of interdisciplinary study by allowing them to take courses outside of their disciplines.
Learning Objectives: By completing this program, the learner will: – • Acquire the ability to sing the prescribed Ragas with proper voice production.
• Be able to show the prescribed Talas.
• Be able to articulate their understanding of the evolution of Indian classical music.
• Understand and explain the historical evolution of Hindustani music.
• Learn about music treatises written throughout the ages.
• Gain the ability to work with other artists to put on a group stage show.
• Gain pedagogical knowledge of the subject in order to be hired as a teacher.
