Printed IGNOU MTTM project sets: does yours carry MTTM 16 or MTTMP 119?
This category holds printed and bound reference sets of the IGNOU MTTM project, the compulsory 8-credit dissertation of the Master of Tourism and Travel Management. The older MTTM scheme calls it MTTM 16; the current MTTM_NEW scheme calls it MTTMP 119, Dissertation Work. Check which code is on your registration before you read, print or post anything.
The code matters more on paper than anywhere else, because it is printed on the pages IGNOU checks first. The SOTHSM 2026 assignment booklet for the older MTTM still lists MTTM 16 with the Semester III courses, while the July 2026 Common Prospectus places MTTMP 119 in Semester IV of MTTM_NEW. Learners who joined the older scheme continue with MTTM 16; learners on MTTM_NEW write MTTMP 119. A dissertation that carries the wrong code on its proforma or first page creates a mismatch with your examination form.
Each printed set is a model dissertation on one tourism title, printed at our own press in New Delhi and bound, for learners who prefer to read, mark and compare on paper. It is a study reference. The dissertation you submit is written on your own approved title, signed by you and your supervisor, and carries your own data. The sets follow the MTTM 16 pattern; if you are on MTTMP 119, use them for chapter structure and method, and confirm the front pages with the Programme Coordinator (MTTM), since no separate MTTMP 119 guide had been located as of 30 September 2026.
Topic choice, the 1,000-word synopsis and the supervisor rules are covered on the IGNOU MTTM project soft copy page, where the same titles are available as PDFs. This page deals with the physical dissertation: what it must carry, how it reaches IGNOU and what happens after.
When is the MTTM dissertation submitted, and what must be paid first?
The MTTM 16 guide says dissertation reports are evaluated only twice a year, in step with the June and December term-end cycles. The Rs 500 project evaluation fee is paid through the term-end examination form, and a copy of the fee receipt goes with the dissertation, whether you post it or upload it.
IGNOU has charged Rs 500 for projects above 4 credits since the January 2023 admission cycle, and both MTTM 16 and MTTMP 119 are 8-credit courses, so the figure is the same for both codes. The fee is not refundable once paid. The SED project portal states that the receipt copy must be submitted with the project report, as a hard copy enclosure or inside the uploaded file.
The last date changes every cycle and is announced by the Student Evaluation Division (SED). For the June 2026 term-end cycle, SED set 15 June 2026 as the last date for online submission of final dissertations. The December 2026 date is notified separately, so check the SED notice on ignou.ac.in before you print the final copy, and leave time for binding and posting. A report that misses one window waits for the next.
The guide also fixes the pass standard: you must secure a minimum of 40 percent of marks, Grade D, in the dissertation. It is a full 8-credit course, so a weak dissertation holds up the whole degree.
Where must the course code and your particulars appear on a printed MTTM dissertation?
Your course code and particulars appear in at least five places across the physical set and its paperwork: the Annexure A proposal proforma, the Annexure C first page, the examination form, the fee receipt and, if you upload, the first page of the portal PDF. Every one must match the code on your registration.
| Where it is printed | MTTM 16 (per the MTTM 16 guide and SED portal) | MTTMP 119 |
|---|---|---|
| Annexure A, Dissertation Proposal Proforma (approved copy) | Programme code MTTM, course code MTTM-16, enrolment number, Regional Centre, full postal address; certified by your supervisor | Ask the Programme Coordinator which proforma and code to use; no MTTMP 119 proforma located |
| Letter of approval of the proposal | Issued by the Programme Coordinator (MTTM); bound inside the report | Same requirement expected; confirm in writing |
| Annexure B, cover page | Dissertation title, supervisor’s name, your name, enrolment number, study centre, Regional Centre | Use the same particulars; course code as instructed |
| Annexure C, first page | Programme code MTTM, course code MTTM-16, enrolment number, study centre code, Regional Centre, title, and your declaration that the work is original | Course code MTTMP 119 if the Coordinator confirms this layout |
| Term-end examination form | MTTM 16 selected as the course, with the Rs 500 fee | MTTMP 119 selected, with the Rs 500 fee |
| First page of the uploaded PDF (portal route) | Title, your name, programme code, enrolment number as on the ID card (not the control or registration number), Regional Centre code, course code, mobile number and email | Same list, with MTTMP 119 as the course code |
The proforma and the first page both carry signatures, so a code or enrolment error on either needs a fresh signature to correct. Proofread both against your ID card before anything goes to the binder.
What the guide says about the printed copy itself
- Typed and bound: the guide says IGNOU would prefer a typed and bound copy of the dissertation work, typed or word-processed.
- Font: it suggests a presentable font and names Times New Roman. No margin or line-spacing figure appears in the passages we could read, so the measurements quoted on many sites are not from this guide.
- Language: the report is prepared in English only.
- Length: 10,000 to 15,000 words, or more if the topic needs it.
- Binding style: the guide asks for a bound copy but, in the passages available to us, does not name a colour or binding type. Spiral, hard or soft binding rules quoted online do not appear in this guide.

How does the bound MTTM dissertation reach IGNOU: by post or by upload?
The MTTM 16 guide directs the bound dissertation to the Registrar, Student Evaluation Division (SED), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068. SED also runs an online project portal in each cycle, where the signed original is scanned into one PDF per course. Neither route goes through your study centre.
Posting the printed copy to SED
Post the bound report to the Registrar, SED, at the Maidan Garhi address, with the fee receipt copy. The stage chart in the guide shows the final report prepared in two copies with one mailed, so keep the second copy with you and do not expect the submitted copy back. A registered or speed post receipt is your only proof of dispatch, so keep it with the tracking number until your result appears. The guide’s chart places submission to SED after the proposal approval letter, which must already be bound inside.
Uploading the signed original on the SED portal
The portal accepts only final project reports; synopses and assignments must not be uploaded there. Its rules are strict: incomplete submissions are not evaluated and are removed after the last date, reports sent by email are not considered, and the approved proforma in original, the synopsis, the guide’s bio-data and the originality certificate signed and dated by student and guide must be included wherever applicable. The printed original therefore still matters, because the scan is made from it.
| What the SED portal checks | How to prepare the printed original |
|---|---|
| Pages clear, not blurred | Scan from the printed original, not from a photocopy of a photocopy |
| Correct sequence | Scan in the bound order, starting with the first page carrying your particulars |
| Pages well lit, not dim | Scan signed pages flat so every signature stays legible |
| Same orientation throughout | Rotate landscape tables to portrait before saving the file |
| One PDF for one course | Merge the proforma, approval letter, report and receipt into a single file |
Choosing a route is a practical decision: posting suits learners who want SED to hold the signed original, and uploading suits learners close to the last date. If you are unsure which route SED is accepting for the current cycle, read the cycle notice or write to the SED project section at [email protected].
What happens after the MTTM dissertation is submitted?
SED sends the dissertation to an examiner, and the guide sets a pass mark of 40 percent (Grade D). The MTTM 16 passages we read do not describe a viva; the SED portal states that where a faculty prescribes a viva-voce, it is arranged through the Regional Centre.
We could not trace to any IGNOU document the fixed 70 and 30 split between report and viva that some study-help sites print for MTTM, so do not plan around that figure. If your Regional Centre does call you for a viva, carry your personal copy of the bound dissertation.
The 2017 guide asks a learner who does not pass to send a revised dissertation with a Rs 600 demand draft payable at New Delhi to the Registrar, SED. That instruction predates the Rs 500 evaluation fee paid through the examination form since January 2023. Before resubmitting, confirm the current procedure with SED or your Regional Centre rather than sending a demand draft.
For questions about a submitted dissertation, IGNOU directs learners to their Regional Centre’s email or the SED project section at [email protected].
Questions about printing and submitting the MTTM dissertation
Can I hand my MTTM dissertation to the study centre?
The MTTM 16 guide sends the bound report to the Registrar, SED, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, and SED’s portal is the online alternative. The study centre is not named as a submission point for the final dissertation in the guide passages we read.
How many copies of the MTTM dissertation should I print?
The guide’s stage chart shows two copies of the final report, one mailed to SED. Keep the other: do not expect the submitted copy back, and you may need it for a viva or a resubmission.
Can I email the dissertation to IGNOU?
No. The SED portal instructions state that reports received through email are not considered for evaluation. Use the portal upload or post the bound copy.
Is a spiral-bound copy acceptable?
The MTTM 16 guide asks for a typed and bound copy but does not specify the binding style in the passages available to us. When in doubt, a firm bound volume is the safer choice, and your Regional Centre can confirm.
Do I send the fee receipt with the hard copy?
Yes. SED asks for a copy of the project evaluation fee receipt with the report, whether submitted as a hard copy or uploaded on the portal.
Can I submit a printed reference set from this page?
No. A reference set shows how an MTTM dissertation is organised. IGNOU evaluates your own dissertation on your approved title, with your declaration of originality and your supervisor’s signatures.
