Inside the MAANY Packet When It Reaches Your Door

Four physical things travel together for every anthropology course you order, and they are bound as one bundle per code because that is how a Learner Support Centre records them.

• The written answers. Every question the booklet prints for that code, answered in longhand on A4 in blue or black, numbered the way the paper numbers them, with the section labels the paper itself uses. A MAANY paper splits into Section A and Section B, and the split is reproduced rather than flattened into one run of answers.
• An IGNOU-format front page, free with every order. It arrives filled with the programme code, the course code, the assignment code and the session, leaving your name, signature, enrolment number and Learner Support Centre code for you to complete on the day you hand it in.
• A copy of the official question paper. The same TMA sheet the answers were written against, so an evaluator who wants to check a question number against the source has it in the same bundle.

Anthropology adds one wrinkle to that list. The fourth-semester compulsory pair, MANL 101 and MANP 101, are a practical and a dissertation rather than theory papers, and they are not written as Tutor Marked Assignments. What this product covers is the TMA side of your record. The dissertation is separate work with its own supervisor, synopsis and approval route.

Where the ₹320 Stops on a MAANY Order

Ten statements, kept in one place so the boundary is visible before an order rather than after it. Five of them are what the rate quietly includes; five are limits this page will not blur.

• One rate across every anthropology prefix. A MANE paper left unwritten while you moved into the second year is handwritten against its own booklet, even when that booklet belongs to a cycle that has since closed. Anthropology produces more of these than most programmes, because the elective groups make it easy to defer one paper and clear the rest.

• The dissertation is not in scope. MANP 101 is eight credits of fieldwork and a written report routed through a supervisor. It is not a Tutor Marked Assignment and it is not what ₹320 buys.
• Nothing here is an IGNOU rule. The rate, the inclusions and the refusal to promise a date are the publisher’s commercial terms. The university sets none of them and has no involvement in them.

Reference File or Submission Copy: Reading the Two Anthropology Products Apart

Two very different things are sold under names that sound alike, and anthropology learners ask about the difference more often than about anything else. A solved assignment is a soft-copy reference file of model answers for one course code and one session, meant to be read and learned from. A handwritten assignment is the answers written out by hand on A4 and submitted in hard copy at the Learner Support Centre. One is study material. The other is the thing you hand across a counter.

IGNOU’s own instruction on the paper settles what a downloaded file can and cannot be. The MAN-101 booklet for the January 2026 session tells the learner it will benefit them to write the answers in their own words, and it directs the completed work to the Coordinator of the Learner Support Centre. A reference file is therefore reading material and never a submission. Nobody should be handing in a printout of a model answer, and this page does not sell one.

Every MAN Core Paper a MAANY First Year Carries

The July 2026 Common Prospectus sets MAANY at 80 credits across four semesters of 20 credits each, and it makes the whole first year compulsory. There is no choosing in the first two semesters: ten papers, four credits apiece, forty credits, and a Tutor Marked Assignment behind every one of them. The MAN-101 booklet states it plainly, telling the learner that five assignments are required in the first semester.

Titles are reproduced as the prospectus prints them. Two of these codes carry a second life worth knowing about: the prospectus files MAN 105 and MAN 107 inside the MA Sociology fourth semester as well, where a sociology learner choosing the anthropology option under MSOE 118 or MSOE 119 writes against Environmental Anthropology or Tribes in India instead of Sociology of Food or Sociology of Health. The code on the paper is the same one a MAANY learner holds. If a classmate on a different programme says they are writing MAN 107 this semester, they may well be telling the truth.

MANE Electives, the Two Multidisciplinary Slots and the Fourth-Semester Pair

The second year is where two MAANY records stop resembling each other. The third semester asks for two papers from an elective group of four, two more from a second group of four, and one multidisciplinary paper chosen from two. Eight elective titles are published and four are taken, which means half the MANE catalogue never appears on any single record.

The credit arithmetic was checked rather than trusted. Twenty credits in the first semester, twenty in the second, eight plus eight plus four in the third and eight plus eight plus four in the fourth sum to 80, which is exactly the figure the prospectus states for the programme. Where an extracted table and a stated total disagree, the extraction is wrong; here they agree.

One structural point deserves emphasis before you order. Four of the codes a MAANY learner can be registered in do not belong to anthropology at all. MPA 033 is a Public Administration paper, MED 002 and MED 008 belong to environmental studies, and MGS 109 sits with gender studies, which the prospectus prints with an asterisk that the section carries no footnote for. Their assignment booklets are written and dated by the discipline that owns them, not by the Faculty of Anthropology, so a learner holding one of these is looking at a paper produced somewhere else in the university.

The Older MANI and MANE Series IGNOU Is Still Issuing

MAANY is not the only anthropology assignment family live on ignou.ac.in. A second booklet, headed Master of Arts in Anthropology, Second Year Courses, and covering the July 2025 and January 2026 sessions together, carries the earlier MAAN code set. Its cover page lists one compulsory paper and seven optionals.

Two Anthropology Code Series, and Where IGNOU’s Own Papers Disagree

Anthropology is unusually easy to get wrong at IGNOU right now, and the reason is that two code generations are live in the same download folder at the same time. Every item below was found by reading IGNOU’s own documents against each other, and the last three are problems on this store rather than at the university.

None of these is a reason for alarm, and none of them invalidates a submission. They are a reason to order against the code line printed on your registration confirmation rather than against a title, a semester name or a competitor’s list. Only ignou.ac.in and your Regional Centre can confirm which series applies to your enrolment.

The One Date the MAANY Booklets Print, and the Two the MAAN Booklet Prints

Programme structures, course codes, submission dates and rules change, and only ignou.ac.in and your Regional Centre can confirm the current position for your enrolment. What follows is what the anthropology booklets fetched for this page actually printed on the day they were read.

• MAANY, January 2026 cycle: 30 September 2026. Both MAANY booklets checked, MAN-101 and MAN-104, print that single line under the heading for the last date of submission, with no July date printed anywhere on the paper.
• MAAN, July 2025 cycle: 30 April 2026. The MANI-003 booklet prints this against the July intake.
• MAAN, January 2026 cycle: 30 September 2026. The same booklet prints this against the January intake, agreeing with the MAANY papers on the January date.

That pairing runs the opposite way round to the School of Management Studies convention which dominates search results, where a July session submits by 31 October. Aggregator pages circulating 31 March, 31 May and 16 August for anthropology are quoting general extensions rather than the anthropology table. The date that governs your submission is the one printed on the booklet you downloaded, and confirming it with your Regional Centre costs one message.

The date matters for a second reason beyond marks. Every anthropology booklet repeats that submitting the assignment on the schedule mentioned is compulsory before you take your term-end examinations, which turns the handwritten set from a scoring exercise into an eligibility gate. The only urgency on this page is the one printed on your own paper. Nothing here is time-limited by Shri Chakradhar Publication.

AST or ASST: Reading the Line Under Your Course Code

Every anthropology TMA prints an assignment code a line or two below the course code, and it is the field learners most often copy incorrectly onto the front page. On a MAANY paper it reads MAN-101/AST/TMA/2026: the course code, a three-letter segment, the letters TMA for Tutor Marked Assignment, and the single year of the cycle. On the older MAAN paper the same field reads MANI-003/ASST/TMA/2025-2026, with a four-letter segment and a two-year span.

Four practical consequences follow from that line.

1. It identifies the session, so it identifies expiry. A paper belongs to the cycle it names and stops being the current one when that cycle closes. The year in the assignment code is how a Learner Support Centre tells this year’s submission from last year’s.
2. It does not follow the pattern of any other school. The management papers print a session name where anthropology prints a segment such as AST. Copying a format from an MBA or M.Com page onto an anthropology cover sheet produces a code IGNOU never issued.
3. It differs between your own codes if you span both series. A learner clearing a backlog on the old series while writing current MAN papers will legitimately have two different code forms in one envelope.
4. It is copied, not reconstructed. Every set prepared here reproduces the assignment code exactly as the booklet prints it, including the segment and the year span, rather than generating one from a template.

The marks pattern printed alongside it is worth reading in the same glance. A MAANY paper totals 100 marks, splits into Section A and Section B, asks for five answers in total with at least two from each section, and sets the word limit at 500 words for a 20-mark question and 250 for a 10-mark question. The two MAANY papers checked print eight questions across the two sections; the older MAAN paper prints ten. The instruction to attempt five is identical on both.

Your Own Hand, Reproduced Across Four Semesters

Send a photo of a page you have written yourself and the handwritten set is matched to your handwriting at no extra charge. On a four-semester programme this is worth more than it first appears. Anthropology submissions accumulate in one Learner Support Centre file across two years, and a set that looks nothing like the pages you handed in last semester is an avoidable inconsistency in a record that outlives the course.

The medium raises the stakes again. A learner registered for the Hindi paper is submitting in Devanagari, and Devanagari letterforms differ far more between writers than Roman ones do, which makes a sample the difference between a plausible match and an obvious one.

What Makes a Sample Photograph Usable

One full page of your ordinary writing, in the medium you will be assessed in, photographed straight on in daylight rather than at an angle. Half a page of careful lettering is less useful than a full page of how you actually write when you are tired, because that is what the rest of your file looks like. The sample is used for the order it belongs to and nothing else.

Devanagari or Roman, Current Cycle or Backlog

The July 2026 Common Prospectus records the MAANY medium of instruction as English and Hindi, and the School of Social Sciences issues anthropology papers accordingly. The service covers all mediums IGNOU issues the TMA paper in, at the same price, so a learner writing MAN 103 in Hindi and MAN 108 in English is quoted ₹320 for each of them.

Sessions work the same way. Any session is accepted, current cycle or older, including backlog courses, at the same ₹320 per subject. What changes with an older code is not the price but the paper: the set is written against the booklet that governs your submission, which is normally the latest one IGNOU has published for that code, and where the two series diverge the booklet is matched to the series your enrolment sits in rather than the one that happens to be newer.

What a MAANY Order Message Needs to Contain

There is no form, no account and no login. One WhatsApp message carries everything, and five lines is usually the whole of it.

1. The course codes, copied not recalled. MAN 106, MANE 104, MPA 033 and so on, exactly as your registration confirmation prints them. Anthropology has too many near-identical codes for memory to be safe.
2. Which series and which intake. Whether your record says MAANY or MAAN, and whether you were admitted in a July or a January cycle. This is what fixes the cut-off and the booklet.
3. The medium, code by code. English or Hindi. On anthropology records these genuinely differ between papers, and it is not safe to assume one medium across the set.
4. A handwriting sample, if you want the match. One photographed page in your own hand. There is no extra charge for matching and no obligation created by sending it.
5. Your pin code, and anything your centre insists on. If your Learner Support Centre wants the question paper stapled in front or a particular cover-sheet layout, say so at the start rather than after the set is written.

Once the Anthropology Bundle Is in Your Hands

Handing the set over is not the end of the sequence. The anthropology booklets are explicit about two habits worth keeping: always keep a photocopy of the assignment submitted, and take an acknowledgement receipt for it and retain it. They also state that the evaluated assignment comes back to you after marking, which is why the receipt matters if it does not.

From there the marks travel in stages. The Learner Support Centre records the submission, sends the marks to the Student Evaluation Division, and the figure eventually appears against that course code on your grade card. A MAANY course showing as incomplete more often means one component has not landed than that anything has failed, and on this programme the missing component is frequently a borrowed multidisciplinary code that the learner never thought of as an anthropology subject at all.

One further note from the MAANY booklets, absent from the older MAAN paper: some study centres accept assignments by mail, by Google form or by other digital means, and learners are told to follow the instructions of their own Regional Centre or Study Centre. If yours is one of those, you scan the delivered hard copy yourself. No soft copy or PDF is sold, and the original stays with you either way.

What MAANY Learners Put Beside the Handwritten Set

Anthropology spreads across biological, social, archaeological and methodological ground in the space of one year, so the material learners want alongside a handwritten set is usually reading support rather than more writing. Read the code printed on your registration confirmation and use that one on your cover page, because it is the label your Learner Support Centre will match against.

Why does my elective code start with MED, MPA or MGS instead of MAN?

Because MAANY borrows its multidisciplinary papers from other disciplines. MPA 033 and MED 008 are the third-semester choices and MGS 109 and MED 002 are the fourth-semester ones. Their booklets are written and dated by the discipline that owns the course, so the format and the cut-off can differ from your anthropology papers.

Do you write the MANP 101 dissertation or the MANL 101 practical?

Three kinds of fact appear on this page and they are deliberately kept apart, because a commercial term and a university rule should never be read as the same kind of statement.
