IGNOU MMPP 1 Project: MMPP-001, MMPP1 and MS-100 name one course

MMPP 1 in plain words

The IGNOU MMPP 1 Project is MMPP-001, the eight-credit project course of the MBA, MBAFM, MBAHM, MBAMM, MBAOM and MBF programmes, earlier coded MS-100. You plan it in a synopsis that an IGNOU evaluator approves through your Regional Centre, then submit one report, bound on paper for ODL students. IGNOU marks that report alone: no assignment and no term-end paper.

Students type the code in several ways (MMPP1, MMPP 1, MMPP 01, MMPP-001), and the official guidelines call it the project course “earlier MS-100 and revised MMPP-001”. IGNOU registers this MMPP 1 project course as one course of eight credits, although it is equivalent to two, and the guidelines state that no additional study material is provided for it. It sits in the third semester of the MBA structure in the January 2026 handbooks. MBA (Online) students take the same MMPP-001 course but send both the synopsis and the report through the LMS portal.

Four newer MBAs carry project courses of their own, listed in the July 2026 Common Prospectus: MMPNP 001 for MBA (Construction Management), MMPLP 001 for MBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management), MAMP 060 for MBA (Agribusiness Management) and MHHP 021 for MBA (Health Care and Hospital Management). If your programme is one of these, the printed sets here were built around a different course. MCom students searching for MCOP 01 need the IGNOU MCom project category instead.

Three searches bring MBA students to this IGNOU MMPP 1 project page expecting something the course does not have. IGNOU’s own documents answer each one in a line or two.

Assignment. There is no MMPP 1 assignment. The January 2026 MBA handbook evaluates every MBA course through assignments and a term-end examination, except the project course, and states that the project course is evaluated only on the report the student submits.

Question paper. For the same reason there is no MMPP 1 question paper to download or revise from. The report is the whole assessment, and the handbook allows no re-evaluation and no improvement attempt for project reports, so the version you bind is the version that is marked.

Last date. The MMPP-001 guidelines fix no last date for either stage. The synopsis can go to your Regional Centre at any time after you register for MMPP-001, and the report can reach SED at any time of the year. The submission date only decides the result window: a report submitted between 1 December and 31 May is declared with the June term-end results, and one submitted between 1 June and 30 November with the December results. Dates on IGNOU’s upload portal belong to that session’s online window; the June 2026 page closed uploads on 15 June 2026. The project fee does have a last date: IGNOU’s notice for the December 2026 term-end examination closes fee payment on 30 November 2026, and the June 2026 upload page says a report whose fee was not paid with the term-end examination form is not considered for evaluation.

Students often ask us whether a last date they read online belongs to the MMPP 1 synopsis or to the report. The MMPP-001 guidelines give neither stage a closing date; the month in which the report reaches SED decides when its result comes out.

In our records, 70 to 80 percent of project students get going only in the final month before a submission date; when that date is in November, most of them start in October. For MMPP-001, 31 May and 30 November mark the edges of result windows, so a report that misses one moves to the next result cycle.

A belief we hear at our counter is that IGNOU stretches each date by a month, so some MBA students wait for the second date before they begin MMPP-001 work. Any extension is IGNOU’s call for that session, and waiting for one leaves the whole report to be written in a few weeks.

If you are tracking a report you have already posted, write to the Assistant Registrar (SED) and quote the PR number allotted on submission. The contacts are in the questions near the end of this page.

Printed IGNOU MMPP 1 Project sets by specialisation

Printed reference sets held in this category

Each IGNOU MMPP 1 project sample in this category is a printed set for one specialisation; the product titles describe a synopsis (proposal) and a project report in hard copy. Open the group for the programme you study. General MBA students choose the group closest to the subject area they entered on the MMPP-001 proforma.

MBAHM: HR printed sets

MBAFM: Finance printed sets

MBAMM: Marketing printed sets

MBAOM: Operations printed sets

MBF: Banking and Finance printed sets

MBA (Online) students can read a printed set for its layout, but their own MMPP-001 report goes through the LMS portal: the MBAOL handbook says hard copies sent to a study centre, a Regional Centre or SED are not considered. Soft copy files of the same course are on the IGNOU MBA project category.

MBA students tell us IGNOU gives them no classes on writing a synopsis or a project report, and for MMPP-001 the guidelines add that no additional study material is provided. A printed set fills part of that gap as a model of shape and length, and nothing more.

  • Once the MMPP-001 approval letter arrives, many students ask us what format the report should follow. Page 7 of the guidelines gives eight parts in order; a finished report shows how those parts fill real pages.
  • Many are also unsure of the page order. The MMPP-001 guidelines list the cover page, contents list, bound-in approval papers and originality certificate without fixing their sequence, so a finished reference report is a quick way to see one workable order.

MMPP 1 project guidelines: what each page of the 11-page PDF covers

Many searches for the MMPP 1 project guidelines are looking for the PDF itself. IGNOU hosts it on its own website (linked in the sources at the end), and the synopsis and report rules of the IGNOU MMPP 1 project sit in its 11 pages; the fee, evaluation and upload rules come from the handbooks, the prospectus and IGNOU’s portal. The table below tells you which page to open for which question, so you can read the rule in IGNOU’s words.

Where each rule sits in the official PDF

Built from the MMPP-001 project guidelines PDF of the School of Management Studies, read page by page in October 2026. Page numbers follow the PDF file on IGNOU’s website.

2Course basics (eight credits, equivalent to two courses, no study material); synopsis approval comes first; topic choice and the three study types; guide routes (i) and (ii)Students sometimes expect a printed list of approved MMPP-001 topics to copy word for word. Page 2 prints none: you choose your own topic, preferably in your specialisation. You are choosing a topic or a guide
3Guide route (iii); the five-student limit per guide; the Rs 500 honorarium IGNOU pays the guide; synopsis parts (i) to (iii), with sample objective stemsMany MBA students settle on a guide before reading pages 2 and 3, and some of those guides meet none of the MMPP-001 routes. You are checking a guide or drafting objectives

11The Proforma for Approval of Project Proposal (MMPP-001), with boxes for the evaluator’s decision on the synopsis and on the supervisorThe proforma confuses many students: some leave it out, and others attach the wrong form. The MMPP-001 proforma is this last page. You are sending the synopsis

The MMPP-001 project guidelines have two quirks worth knowing before you quote them. The guide’s bio-data has no printed form; page 5 lists what it must contain, so the guide writes it out and signs it. And item (ii) on page 7 opens by repeating a sentence from item (i) before the methodology points begin, so read the bullet points under it as the methodology contents.

IGNOU MMPP 1 Project report returned for compliance

A posted IGNOU MMPP 1 project report comes back for compliance when one of four papers is missing from the bound volume. Page 10 names them: the approved proposal proforma, the approved proposal, the guide’s bio-data, and the Certificate of Originality signed by you and your guide. Page 8 adds what the volume itself must show.

  • A cover page with your name, your enrolment number, your guide’s name and the project title.
  • A detailed table of contents with page numbers, and every page numbered to match it.
  • The approved proposal, the approved proforma and the guide’s bio-data bound into the volume; a report with a stapled proposal is not accepted.
  • The Certificate of Originality in the format printed on page 9; you and your guide both sign and date it.
  • The exact title the evaluator approved, because page 4 allows no change of title at report stage.

Many MBA students do not know which papers the MMPP-001 report has to carry, and the report comes back to them. The list above gives the papers and contents the guidelines require, from pages 4, 8 and 10.

  • We also see MMPP-001 reports where only the student has signed the originality certificate. The format on page 9 has its own line for the supervisor’s signature, with place and date.
  • Some students leave the questionnaire out of the MMPP-001 report altogether. The guidelines list it under annexures (item viii on page 7), so it belongs at the back of the volume.

Posting the MMPP-001 report: emailed copies, extra copies, missing proof

For ODL students an IGNOU MMPP 1 project report travels one way: one typed, bound copy to the Registrar (SED), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068, by registered post, speed post or by hand, in an envelope marked PROJECT REPORT-MMPP-001. In sessions where SED opens an upload portal, a single PDF of the signed original can go there; the June 2026 portal closed on 15 June 2026, and when this page was updated IGNOU’s notices page carried no upload notice for December 2026. The fee receipt goes with the hard copy or is uploaded on the portal.

  • Some students email their MMPP-001 report to an IGNOU address. IGNOU’s upload page states that reports received through email are not considered, so an emailed copy is not evaluated.
  • How many copies, and to which office? MMPP-001 asks for one copy to SED, and the guidelines tell you to keep a second, because the submitted report is not returned after evaluation.
  • Some students post the MMPP-001 report and keep no proof of it. Hold on to the speed post or registered post receipt, or the hand-delivery acknowledgement, until the PR number is allotted and the result appears.

MBA (Online) students skip the envelope: the MBAOL handbook sends their report through the LMS portal at any time of the year.

Report length and binding: where MMPP-001 is strict and where it is silent

The guidelines fix fewer format rules for the IGNOU MMPP 1 project report than many help pages claim. What they do fix: about 50 to 60 double-spaced typed pages, not exceeding roughly 18,000 words without the appendices and exhibits, with reasonable variation either way; A-4 paper; typed in double space; one original copy in a bound volume.

What they leave open: the font, the letter size, the margins, the type of binding beyond a bound volume, the referencing style and any abstract. Figures you may meet elsewhere, such as 15,000 words, a harder binding or an abstract, do not appear in the MMPP-001 guidelines. Our suggestion, which is not an IGNOU rule: a plain 12-point font, even margins wide enough for the binding, and one style for headings throughout.

Some MMPP-001 reports we see run far beyond the length the guidelines set and are returned. Keep the main text near 50 to 60 double-spaced pages and move survey tables you do not discuss into the appendices.

  • Some MBA students submit the MMPP-001 report spiral bound. The guidelines ask for a bound volume with the approved proposal bound in, so choose a binding that holds those signed pages in the spine.
  • Some students send a handwritten synopsis. The MMPP-001 guidelines say nothing about typing the synopsis, while the report must be typed in double space, so a typed synopsis keeps both documents in one form.

Literature review and references that do not match

In an IGNOU MMPP 1 project report the review of literature sits inside the introduction (item i on page 7) and the references come near the end (item vii). The guidelines name both and set no referencing style.

  • In many MMPP-001 synopses and reports, authors discussed in the literature review are missing from the bibliography, and the bibliography lists studies the review does not discuss.
  • Reference lists often mix formats and leave out the annual reports or websites the data chapter used. MMPP-001 sets no style, so follow one consistent format and list each secondary source you drew on.
  • Many MBA reports rest on an outdated review of literature, and in our experience this costs marks; add recent studies from your subject area before the MMPP-001 report goes for binding.

Results chapter too thin for the objectives

The results chapter is where an IGNOU MMPP 1 project report shows its work. Page 7 asks for results in tabular or graphical form, with the interpretation of the data and findings given elaborately, and asks the methodology chapter to state the reliability and validity of the tools used and the statistical tools applied.

For the method behind that chapter, BK Sahni’s open lesson Research Methodology for IGNOU MBA Projects (MMPP-001), published on Zenodo (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20748477), explains measurable objectives, research design, sampling, primary and secondary data and simple analysis such as cross-tabulation and correlation. It teaches the method and does not supply a ready report.

  • In many MBA reports the analysis chapter cannot carry the weight of the objectives and methodology that the MMPP-001 synopsis set out.
  • Many students build the whole MMPP-001 study on secondary data. The guidelines ask you to state the nature and source of your data and do not bar secondary data; your sample and tools, and the analysis built on them, still have to match what was approved.
  • Some students bind their filled-in questionnaires at the back of the report. The MMPP-001 guidelines ask for the questionnaire used under annexures, and a single blank copy is the usual practice.

Your data, your analysis, your signature

The IGNOU MMPP 1 project is assessed on one report, and the Certificate of Originality that you and your guide sign states that the work is yours and has not been submitted before to IGNOU or any other university. The guidelines add that a plagiarised report is dealt with under the University’s policy. A printed reference set from this category is for seeing structure; no part of it goes into your report as your own.

  • We have seen MMPP-001 data chapters written on assumed figures with no survey behind them. Your analysis has to come from data you collected or sourced yourself, under the methodology that was approved.
  • Many students paste material from websites into the MMPP-001 report without checking it. Run your own plagiarism check on the draft and rewrite borrowed passages in your words, with a reference.
  • We see some students hand in an AI-written synopsis or report without changes, which is one more reason near-identical MBA topics keep reaching MMPP-001 evaluators.

Rs 500 fee, and a viva only on request

MMPP-001 carries eight credits, so the IGNOU MMPP 1 project evaluation fee is Rs 500, the slab for project work above four credits in the July 2026 Common Prospectus; project work up to four credits pays Rs 300. The MBA handbook asks for the fee with the term-end examination form for the semester in which you submit the report. IGNOU’s notice for the December 2026 term-end examination sets 30 November 2026 as the last date for project fees, paid through the Samarth portal. The Rs 500 on page 3 of the guidelines is a different payment: the honorarium IGNOU pays your guide.

A viva-voce takes place only when the evaluator recommends one, and you are informed if that happens. IGNOU’s upload page says Regional Centre faculty conduct it.

  • Many students confuse the Rs 300 and Rs 500 amounts when they pay for MMPP-001. The credit count settles it: eight credits places the course in the Rs 500 slab.
  • Students often ask us whether they should prepare for a viva. For MMPP-001 a viva follows only an evaluator’s recommendation, and IGNOU tells you when one is due.

Approved, with comments to work into the report

An approval for the IGNOU MMPP 1 project synopsis often comes with the evaluator’s comments; the office-use box on the proforma has a space marked for them. Those comments belong in the report you write next, because page 7 expects the report to cover the study as it was envisaged in the approved synopsis.

  • Most MMPP-001 approvals we see arrive with correction or change points attached.
  • The correction we see most often asks the student to bring the review of literature up to date, so check the years of the studies you cite before writing chapter one of the MBA report.
  • Many students file the comments away and write the MMPP-001 report as first planned. Work each comment into the chapter it concerns.

Not approved: what the resubmission envelope must hold

When an IGNOU MMPP 1 project synopsis is not approved, page 6 asks for four things together: the revised proposal, a fresh proforma, a copy of the rejected proposal and proforma bearing the evaluator’s comments, and the PP number the Regional Centre allotted. A change of guide, whether the faculty rejected the first guide or you chose to change, counts as a new proposal on a new proforma signed by the new guide.

Re-admission brings its own rule. If your maximum duration ran out and you took a new enrolment number, an approval given on the old number has to be sought again for the new one, or page 4 warns that the report may not be accepted.

Many students forget to enclose the rejected MMPP-001 synopsis when they resubmit. Keep the returned copy with the evaluator’s remarks exactly as it came back; it goes into the new envelope.

Two or three months and still no approval letter

Page 6 promises a written decision on an IGNOU MMPP 1 project synopsis within two or three months of its receipt at the Regional Centre. Approval queries go to the Regional Director of that Centre, with your PP number. The same page asks you to send the proposal soon after registering MMPP-001, so that eight to nine months remain for the project work before the fourth semester expires, and warns that the Regional Centre cannot answer for timely disposal of proposals received more than six months after registration.

  • Letters of approval are often slow to reach students. Our experience matches the MMPP-001 guidelines: a synopsis decision takes two to three months.
  • Most students have no idea how long approval should take, or whom to ask once a month or two passes in silence. For MMPP-001 the answer is the Regional Director of your own Regional Centre.
  • For some students the approval letter simply did not arrive, and their session ran out while they waited. Once the third month passes, write to your Regional Centre so that a missing MMPP-001 letter is traced while there is still time.

IGNOU MMPP 1 project synopsis sent to the wrong office

The synopsis goes to the Regional Director of your own Regional Centre, in an envelope with MMPP-001 written prominently on it; page 5 also points to the Regional Centres’ e-mail addresses for forwarding a proposal. MBA (Online) students upload theirs to their designated Regional Centre through the LMS portal. The report follows only after the written approval, and it goes to SED.

  • Students are often unsure whether the MMPP-001 synopsis belongs at the study centre or with the Regional Centre, and a few hand it in at Maidan Garhi. For this course it belongs with your Regional Director; Maidan Garhi receives the report later.
  • Some students send the synopsis and the report together near a date they think is final, without the guide’s signature, and the whole package is rejected. MMPP-001 runs in two stages: approval first, report afterwards.
  • Many students hand in the MMPP-001 synopsis without asking for a receipt. Ask for one at the Regional Centre, or keep the postal receipt, until the PP number reaches you.

Proforma and bio-data errors that stop a synopsis before evaluation

Page 5 is direct: if the duly signed bio-data and proforma are missing, the synopsis will not be entertained, and a proposal incomplete in any respect is not accepted. The proforma on page 11 asks for your enrolment number, study centre, Regional Centre, subject area, name, full postal address, e-mail and topic, the supervisor’s name and address, whether the supervisor is an academic counsellor of the Management Programme, and the number of students that supervisor is guiding, with both signatures and dates. The bio-data must give the guide’s name and date of birth, addresses (home and workplace) with phone numbers, degrees with university, year and percentage of marks, and work experience in date order with each organisation’s contactable address, signed in original and dated. Page 4 waives the bio-data where the guide is an approved academic counsellor, although the note on the page 11 proforma still asks for it, so attaching it does no harm.

  • Many MMPP-001 proformas that reach us have the guide’s details half filled, and some leave out the student’s own name, address or e-mail.
  • Synopses come back when the Topic of the Project line on the MMPP-001 proforma is left blank.
  • Students also ask which papers travel with the synopsis and whether to bind it. MMPP-001 asks for the proforma, one copy of the proposal and the guide’s signed bio-data; the guidelines are silent on binding the synopsis.

Five synopsis parts, and the ones students leave out

The IGNOU MMPP 1 project synopsis has five required parts on pages 3 and 4: an introduction, the rationale, the objectives (stated neutrally, with no assumption about the findings), the research methodology and any limitations. The methodology covers the research design, the nature and source of data, the sample and sampling technique with the rationale for the chosen organisation and sample, the tools or questionnaire and their link to the objectives, the method of data collection, and the statistical tools to be used.

  • Many students do not know this structure and drop a core part, such as the methodology or the objectives. MMPP-001 does not name hypotheses in its list, so include them only where your design calls for them.
  • Synopses are returned when the rationale or the questionnaire is missing; MMPP-001 names both, the rationale as part (ii) and the tools or questionnaire under methodology.
  • We have also seen synopses returned for a missing period of study or chapter plan. The MMPP-001 list names neither, so treat them as additions an evaluator may still ask for.

Guide not approved, or no guide found

The evaluator approves the guide as well as the synopsis: the office box on the proforma has a separate line for the supervisor. Under pages 2 and 3, a guide for the IGNOU MMPP 1 project qualifies by one of these routes: management faculty of the School of Management Studies at headquarters; an approved academic counsellor of the Management Programme with relevant experience at a study centre; management faculty with five years of postgraduate teaching; or a professional with a master’s degree in management or an allied discipline and five years in the relevant area after it. No guide may supervise more than five students at a time. If the guide is not approved, you change the guide and send a new proposal.

  • Many students say IGNOU allotted them no guide and they could not find one, so they turned to a relative or an outside contact. Check that person against the MMPP-001 routes first; an ineligible guide sends the proposal back for a fresh start.
  • We have seen MMPP-001 synopses returned when the guide’s bio-data had no stamp or proof of current work. The guidelines ask for bio-data signed in original and dated, with the workplace address and a work record in date order; a current business card may be attached.
  • Several rounds of changes from a guide can push an MMPP-001 synopsis back by weeks, so agree on review dates with your guide at the start.

MMPP 1 project topics sent back for a rewrite

MMPP 1 project topics are open: page 2 lets you choose any topic, preferably in your specialisation, as a comprehensive case study of one organisation, an inter-organisational study, or a field study. The title has to be definitive and concise, and the subject area on the proforma (HRM and OB, Accounting and Finance, Operations Management and Information System, Marketing, Corporate Management, or any other you specify) should match it. For the IGNOU MMPP 1 project the approved title is locked: page 4 allows no change when the report is submitted. The IGNOU MBA project category linked in the shelf above covers topic choice in more depth.

Evaluators often return MMPP-001 synopses asking that the study be based in the student’s own city or location, so a local organisation or a sample from your own town is worth planning from the start.

IGNOU MMPP 1 Project questions people search

Short answers to MMPP 1 search questions

What goes on the IGNOU MMPP 1 project front page?

Page 8 of the guidelines asks for four items on the cover: your name, your enrolment number, your guide’s name and the project title. For an upload, IGNOU’s June 2026 portal asked for more on the first page of the PDF: the title, your name, programme code, enrolment number as printed on your ID card, Regional Centre code, course code, mobile number and e-mail. A cover that carries both lists works for either route.

Does IGNOU give a sample MMPP-001 report?

No. The guidelines state that no additional study material is provided for MMPP-001. What the PDF does carry is a set of sample objective stems (page 3), the Certificate of Originality format (page 9) and the proforma (page 11).

How do I find a guide for MMPP 1?

A common first step is to ask the study centre coordinator for an MMPP-001 guide, only to find that none is allotted. Approved academic counsellors of the Management Programme at study centres are recognised supervisors under route (ii), so ask about them first; otherwise approach someone who meets one of the other routes on pages 2 and 3.

Is there a last date for the IGNOU MMPP 1 project synopsis?

No fixed date. You can send it at any time after registering MMPP-001, though page 6 warns that proposals arriving more than six months after registration may not be handled in time.

We see many students post the MMPP-001 synopsis in the final week before a date they treat as the last one.

Where can I check the status of my MMPP 1 project report?

Write to the Assistant Registrar (SED), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068, at [email protected], or call 011-29571324 or 011-29571321, quoting your PR number. Questions about synopsis approval go to the Regional Director of your Regional Centre.

What is the Certificate of Originality for MMPP-001?

A one-paragraph declaration, printed on page 9, that the named project is your original work submitted in partial fulfilment of IGNOU’s MBA degree and has not been submitted earlier to IGNOU or any other university or institution. You and your supervisor each sign it with place and date, and the guidelines allow it in the same format.

Late starts and copied topics

The guidelines expect the IGNOU MMPP 1 project synopsis to be the student’s original work (page 2). The three observations below come from BK Sahni’s work with IGNOU project students.

  • Many students leave the MMPP-001 synopsis so late that they have no time left to write it themselves. Starting in the semester you register the course gives you the eight to nine months the guidelines plan for.
  • Many students draft the synopsis with an AI chat tool before reading the MMPP-001 guidelines, and the plan then misses what the course asks for, such as neutral objectives and a stated rationale for the sample.
  • When synopses are drawn from widely circulated material or one common outside source, the topic often matches other students’ work, and a duplicate topic is a frequent reason MMPP-001 synopses come back.

Official MMPP-001 sources

By BK Sahni, who has served IGNOU distance learners since 2010, founder of Shri Chakradhar Publication Pvt. Ltd., a New Delhi publisher with its own printing press, and author of the open MMPP-001 methodology lesson on Zenodo. Last updated: .

How this page was made: it was prepared from all 11 pages of the MMPP-001 project guidelines, the January 2026 MBA handbooks, the July 2026 Common Prospectus, IGNOU’s June 2026 project upload page and the December 2026 project fee notice, read in October 2026; the drafting was AI-assisted, each rule was checked against the official sources listed above, and BK Sahni publishes the page under his editorial responsibility. The desk observations come from BK Sahni’s own work with IGNOU project students.

Shrichakradhar.com is an independent publisher, not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Indira Gandhi National Open University. Printed MMPP-001 sets are study references for format and structure, not for submission as your own work: the report you submit must be your own, and IGNOU’s evaluator alone decides approval and marks.
